Can I Use Dyed Craft Sticks Instead of Painting?
Absolutely. While the most common type of craft sticks come in natural wood color, you can sometimes find them dyed. If you find dyed craft sticks, or already have them available, you can certainly use them in place of the natural colored ones that need to be painted. This is a great option if you are wanting to avoid messy paint wit your kids.
In fact, I try to keep some of each on hand because there are some times when I just don't have time or the inclination to paint.
Easter is one of my favorite times of the year for crafting. That includes making homemade Easter baskets, Easter wreaths, and even fun mason jar Easter crafts and gifts. The possibilities for crafting and adding fun decor to your home around Easter are truly endless.
Can I Turn This Into a Magnet?
When you make these adorable Easter chicks, you might want to make them into magnets. It is very simple to do. When you are ready to apply the magnet strip you will either remove the covering on the adhesive that comes on some magnet strips or glue the magnet in place. Once the glue has dried, you will be able to use the popsicle stick chicken as a magnet. Make sure to use a magnet that can support the weight of the craft sticks or apply more than one magnet.

How to Make a Popsicle Stick Chick
Start by painting the craft sticks yellow. You can also use already dyed craft sticks if preferred.
Lay 6 yellow craft sticks together side by side then glue two regular craft sticks across them on opposite sides of the sticks.
Once the glue has dried, you will trim off any excess craft sticks on either side.
Now, you will trace and cut out 2 yellow wing shapes.
Glue one wing on each side of the craft sticks on the backside where the other sticks are holding them in place.
Now, you will glue the googly eyes in place.
On the orange craft paper, draw a small triangle beak and two small orange feet and cut them out.
Glue the beak and feet onto the chicken.
Lastly, you will glue the feather on the back of the chick so it pops out over the top of the head.
Now, you can display your craft stick chicken!
Crafter's Tip
If you want to use already dyed craft sticks for this craft or others, I highly recommend buying them in bulk and keeping a variety on hand. I love being able to buy jumbo colored craft sticks on Etsy. You can pick just the colors you want and buy as few or as many as needed.
