Make your own personalized Valentine's message in a bottle as a perfect way to preserve a note of love! This is such a cute idea for using a little jar, some pink and red embellishments, and a personal message. I love that this is so easy to make and that you can truly customize it for every receiver.
Valentine's Message in a Bottle
We've all seen the stories and watched the movies where a message was tucked inside a bottle and thrown out to sea only to wash up on shore years later. In fact, one of my favorite movies is Message in a Bottle. That said, I knew I wanted to create something similar to give as a unique and personal gift for Valentine's Day.
Finding simple jars with a cork or lid was easy, but what should I put inside them? I threw together a few things I had on hand, plus created a message, and this was the result. It's such a simple but unique gift that I think it is perfect for kids and adults.

What Jars Should I Use?
I was lucky to find these little heart-shaped glass jars with a cork lid at the local Dollar Tree store. If you don't have one in your local area, you can shop Dollar Tree online, or find heart jars on Amazon. I've also seen these at Hobby Lobby, Michael's, Walmart, and even Target in the past. There are tons of options for jars.
You don't have to use a heart-shaped jar. You can also add these to an old wine bottle or any small glass jar with a lid. This craft is more about the idea and less about the exact details.
I think this would look great on a mantle next to my heart lantern as a way to display the gift to surprise someone on Valentine's Day. You could even add it into a gift bag with other items like these amazing valentine cream cheese cookie bars as a fun inexpensive gift. There are tons of possibilities!
How do I Secure My Message?
There are a lot of ways to add a message to your message in a bottle craft. I used simple paper and stamped a message in place, then rolled and added a small craft circle I found in my jewelry crafting supplies. You could also add a bit of glue, tape, or a tiny bit of ribbon.
Depending upon the size of the jar and how large you make your message, you may not even want or need to roll it. You can leave it open to be seen easily from the outside. Again, remember that this craft is one to customize for the receiver. So, that means you can make it unique for what you have on hand.
