Turn a few pieces of craft paper into a beautiful paper flower photo card! This is a great craft to use year round as a gift for friends and family. I love taking new snapshots of my kids and adding them to this card to send to the grandparents and their aunt. It's so fun to see kids excited that they made a special card all on their own!
Paper Flower Photo Card
In case you didn't know, I love flowers. It's probably pretty obvious with how many great paper flower tutorials or even yarn pom pom flowers I have made in the past. If not, you know now that flowers are my favorite thing ever! So, when trying to come up with a simple but unique gift for my parents from the grandkids, I knew a card would be great. Why not combine the card with my favorite flowers?
The rest is history! This simple craft was easy to make, and it is a great way to send a card that nobody else will be sent to those you love!
If you have extra photos, you can make this photo jar vase or even how to make glowing photo luminaries.
What's the Best Paper for Making a Homemade Card?
For this card, I like to definitely use a bit stiffer craft paper. Construction paper or colored card stock is ideal. If in a bind, you could use basic copy paper, but it tends to be more flimsy and not hold up as well. Patterned craft paper is a good alternative, but check the weight of the paper as some just aren't sturdy enough to hold the flower shape when the card is completed.
I've even made paper flowers out of old book pages before! There are tons of ways to make flowers, paper crafts, and cards. Just expand your imagination.
Can I Mail These Through the Post Office?
Yes! These are super easy to add into an envelope and drop at the post office to mail to friends and family. Depending upon what type of picture you attach and what type of paper you choose, you may need to add an extra stamp to the envelope.
Can I Add Glitter to My Cards?
One of my favorite things to do is add a little extra glitter to the card to decorate the space with a bit more flare. I think a bit of glue to outline the flower petals would be perfect for adding in some gold or silver sparkles of glitter to the mix.
You could even use glitter glue instead of just loose glitter to achieve the same effect with less mess. Choose what works best for you and your needs.
If you have leftover paper and glitter, you could make this gorgeous paper flower wreath and add sparkle to it with some glitter!

How to Make a Paper Flower Photo Card
Begin by trimming your photograph into a circle.
Next, you will place your picture onto the green paper and trace around it to create the top of the flower making it around ½" larger around than the photo.
Cut the green circle flower shape, stem, and leaves out of the green paper and set aside.
Now, you will cut a strip of purple paper around 2-3" wide.
Fold this paper in half, and begin cutting strips of the purple paper. I cut mine into ¼" wide pieces, leaving the fold intact.
Once you have all of your purple pieces cut out, you will then begin gluing them in place around the outside edge of the green circle on the flower.
Glue these in place so that the folded side is on the outside, and the open ends are on either side of the green paper.
Once your flower has a purple "fringe" around the whole circle, you will then use your photo to trace a piece of the purple foam paper in a circle around ¼" wider around than the photo.
Place the purple foam paper in the center of the flower circle.
Now, you will glue your photo onto the center of the purple glitter paper.
Now, you will add a few lines on the leaves and a special message to the back of the flower.
