Light Bulb Snowman Ornament
My love of snowmen just keeps growing. They are so adorable, and there are so many ways to add them to your holiday decorations. I just can't stop making them!
This idea was inspired by others, but a bit more difficult as I had to cut the glass and remove the filament. The result though was excellent. I am in love with how this looks on the tree.
Make sure to add these 3D santa and snowman ornaments to the tree also. They are too cute! If you have kids around, have them help you make this snowman craft stick photo ornament.
I love how cute they are, plus you can keep them for years down the road with pictures to remember your kids by.
What Type of Light Bulbs Can I Use?
For this craft, a bulb style bulb is a must. It can be a large bulb, small bulb, or anything in between. You could easily make miniature snowmen with smaller bulbs like used for nightlights.
Larger flood lamp bulbs could be great for a giant snowman. Regular household lightbulbs are the easiest to come by and best for this but use your imagination.
The only type of bulb I wouldn't use is the spiral fluorescent twisted bulbs. Otherwise, you can easily turn any light bulb into a snowman ornament or decoration for the holidays.
Since you are working with sharp items, this one isn't a great option for kids, but you can have them make these cute toilet paper snowmen instead. They are so cute and easy for kids.
They could even make this snowman ornament instead. So many great snowmen options for your holiday decorations.
Can I Use Bulb Shaped Ornaments Instead?
Yes! Of course, you can use a bulb-shaped ornament if they are available in your area. They are much safer to work with and easier to let kids help you create. I've found them at my local Hobby Lobby, and Michael's stores.
You can also order them on Amazon, and some holiday decoration websites.

How to Make a Light Bulb Snowman Ornament
If you are using an old light bulb, you will be removing the wires and inside filament of the light bulb. To do this, you will use a craft knife or Xacto knife, to score the top of the light bulb.
Once the glass bulb has been scored, you will gently remove it and then using the pliers, you will remove all pieces of the filament from the inside.
Now, you will stuff the cotton balls inside the light bulb. When the bulb is filled, you will close it.
First, cut a piece of black fabric or felt into a circle for the hat.
This will have a hole in the center of the hat and will slide over the top of the bulb and then glue the top of the bulb back in place.
Now, you will decorate the hat with berries or greenery.
Cut a piece of the orange fabric or felt for the nose, and then draw a face onto the bulb and attach the fabric nose.
Glue a piece of satin ribbon to the light bulb as a scarf.
To finish, you will add a piece of ribbon or twine to the top back of the lightbulb.
Hang on your tree.
