Christmas Bell Decoration

For years, I have loved Christmas bells. There are jingle bells on my tree, hanging on my doors, and in all of my wreaths. The jingle of those bells just makes me happy inside because it means the holidays are here.

So, making my own homemade bell was a challenge this year. A cute little clay pot turned into this adorable bell in no time at all!

Can I Paint My Christmas Bell a Different Color?

While I love this green bell since it matches traditional Christmas colors, it can definitely be painted any color you wish. I love the idea of making them in a multitude of colors and having a little bell "garland" hanging on my front porch this year!

Some colors and combinations are below that can be fun to make.

Silver and blue
Gold and red
Red and white
Purple and silver

Where Can I Find the Christmas Embellishments?

I used snowflakes and holiday berries for my Christmas bell. You can use any holiday-themed decorations, or none at all if you prefer.

I love picking up stickers, confetti, and table scatter at the Dollar Tree to keep on hand for things like this. The little berries and greenery even came from a dollar store.

I find these things in the artificial flower section, crafting area, scrapbook section, and yes, even in the party supplies section sometimes. You can even order large batches of these items from Oriental Trading.

You should add this fun mini paper strip Christmas tree to your list and use some of your extra snowflakes or bells on it!

Small flower pot
Ribbon
Holiday artificial berries and leaves
Jingle bells
Snowflake stickers or embellishments
Green paint
Paintbrush
Scissors
Hot glue gun and glue

How to Make a Clay Pot Christmas Bell

To begin, you will paint the clay pot on all sides and then set aside to dry. This takes around 1 hour if you use a thin layer of craft paint.

Next, you will add embellishments around the outside of the bell.

I added a variety of snowflakes. Stickers or hot glue on cut-outs works best.

Now, you will glue on the artificial leaves and flowers around the bottom edge of the rim of the pot like shown.

Thread a length of ribbon through your bells.

I made 3 and then tied them together at the end with excess ribbon to pull through the hole at the top of the bell. You can add a single large bell or multiple small bells. Do what you prefer for this.

This adorable DIY Christmas Bell Decoration made from a clay pot is a perfect addition to your holiday decor this year! Customize with your holiday colors for a beautiful bell everyone loves.

Instructions

To begin your bell, you will take your clay pot and paint the outside green (or your chosen color);
Set the pot aside to dry for around 1 hour or until no longer wet;
Now, you will add on your embellishments;
I used snowflake cutouts and stickers;
Next, you will glue on holiday bells and greenery;
Now, thread ribbon through a few jingle bells;
Then tie them together and thread the ribbon through the top of the flower pot bell;
Now you can hang your decorative Christmas bell anywhere you want for the holidays.
