Pasta Tree Christmas Decoration
I love using pasta to make fun crafts! This is such a super easy craft to make with kids, but it is also fun for adults. All you have to do is cut out a tree shape, glue on pasta, and paint!
The best part of this simple Christmas decoration is that you can truly customize it to look however you prefer. Add in glitter, different colors of paint, or even glue on miniature stars or other ornaments if you want to add to the look.
If you want to add more fun homemade things to your tree, turn an old book into a Christmas angel, or make one or more of these Disney ornaments anyone can make.
What Pasta Should I Use on My Christmas Tree Ornament?
The joy of this craft is that you can use any pasta you wish! Since pasta is usually a very inexpensive addition to the pantry, I often have a few different shapes on hand. I love the rigatoni or shells for this, but you can also use penne, elbow macaroni, fusilli, or even bits of spaghetti broken into small pieces.
Use your imagination while using up the few small bits of pasta left in the bottom of your dry goods containers in the pantry!
What Is The Best Paint for Painting Pasta?
This works best with classic acrylic craft paint. Since this is a smaller project you will be doing by hand, there is no need to bring out the spray paint. Just pick up gold, red, white, or even green paints. You may also want to grab various colors of flitter and a good Mod Podge or craft glue to dip the pasta in to attach glitter if desired.
Supplies Needed
- Pasta in different shapes

How to Make a Pasta Christmas Decoration
To make this cute Christmas decoration, you will need a sturdy piece of cardstock or cardboard. I had some cardboard on hand, so I used it. You can even cut a piece out of the side of a box you received a package in from the post.
Draw a simple tree shape on the cardboard, then cut it out.
Next, you will glue green paper over the top of the tree and trim it to the same size and shape.
Next, you will use hot glue or craft glue to attach your pasta to the tree in a pattern you like. You can do this in stripes, as I show, or scatter all over in different patterns, as you prefer.
Once the pasta is in place and the glue is dried, use your paintbrush and acrylic paints or glue and glitter to paint the pasta different colors to act as the "tree" decorations.
Your final step will be to cut a small hole at the top of the tree, thread a ribbon or piece of twine through, and tie it for hanging.
