These bats, spiders, and pumpkins are the fun magnets you need to add to your refrigerator during the spooky season. I love decorating every part of my home for Halloween, so why not the kitchen? This tutorial is easy and needs just some bottle caps, paint, and a touch of glue to create!
This Halloween spider web jar is another great addition to your kitchen decorations Halloween!
Fun Magnets Halloween Craft
In another effort to repurpose anything I can around the house, I was able to turn simple bottle caps into this adorable little bat, spider, ghost, and pumpkin magnets! Using just a bit of glue, paint, and a few scrap pieces of paper and pipe cleaners, I was able to turn old bottle caps into an adorable decoration for Halloween.
You can use your imagination to create Halloween themed magnets like these, or even to create monster magnets, or my favorite idea, a Frankenstein magnet with green and purple paint! These would go great in a little Halloween gift bag alongside these Halloween spider lollipops, or even with my monster treat box made from egg cartons.
What is the Best Paint to Use on Bottle Caps?
For this project, I simply used my regular craft paint and permanent markers. Acrylic craft paints are easy to find in your craft section at any department store. They are inexpensive and dry fast for crafts like this fun magnets project.
If you don't have paints on hand, you can also use colored permanent markers to color in the entire bottle cap and use alternate colors to create the faces as directed.
Where Can I Find Extra Bottle Caps?
I always seem to have bottle caps on hand in a jar on my kitchen counter. Between soda and beer bottles, we can create a nice stockpile of bottle caps over a few months. If you don't drink soft drinks or beer in a bottle, then you may be looking for bottle caps elsewhere.
Bottle caps can be purchased in bulk bags on Amazon and in most craft stores. These are relatively inexpensive, but easy to come by if you don't have them at home from drinks. You can also ask friends and family to save theirs for you to use.
Where Can I Use these Bats & Spiders for Halloween Decor?
Of course, I have already mentioned how I use these in my kitchen on the refrigerator, but that's not the only place they look great. I've added these to the sides of metal picture frames, on filing cabinets, and bulletin boards. In fact, they are the perfect little craft idea to do with kids in a classroom to use for holding their artwork up on a board to display!
As long as it is a metal surface, these will stick and look great!

How to Make Fun Magnets from Bottle Caps
Gather your supplies and set them up on your work area so everything is within reach. Before you begin, make sure any bottle caps that came from soft drinks or beer are washed and dried well.
Using your craft paint, you will paint the bottle caps on their tops, including the ridges down the sides. I chose to paint some white, some orange, and some black.
Let the bottle caps dry completely before moving to the next step.
Once the bottle caps are completely dry, you will begin using your black permanent marker to create faces on the white and orange bottle caps. Have fun creating ghost and pumpkin faces with different features.
On the black bottle caps, you can use white paint or marker to create eyes for the bat and spider. You can also use pink or red markers to create a smallmouth on these if desired.
For each of the bat bottle caps, you will need to create wings. I used black card stock and drew a simple wing to cut out and then attach it with hot glue.
On the bottle caps that will be spiders, cut pipe cleaners into 8 small pieces then glue them in rows on either side of the cap to create spider legs.
To add the magnet, you may need to glue a small circle of cardboard on the underside/backside of the bottle cap. After it has bee glued into place, you will then place a small craft magnet and secure with glue.

I have very young grandchildren, 8 and 6. All the crafts that I would like to send them to do from this site, requires a hot glue gun. They are too young to use this tool.

You can replace them with regular craft glue.
