This one only has two ingredients, can be whipped up in just a couple of minutes and smells heavenly. Swimming Pool Hair Remedy
There is nothing better than taking a dip in a cool pool on a hot summer day. The chemicals in that pool however, can wreak havoc on your hair. This recipe helps to keep chlorine and other chemicals from causing damage and it will keep blonde hair (treated hair especially) from turning green after that refreshing dip. You need baking soda, lemon juice and a mild shampoo. Baby shampoo is perfect. You just mix the ingredients together and then shampoo as usual. Cover with a plastic shower cap or bag and leave on for at least half an hour. Then just rinse away and shampoo as you normally would.

Oatmeal Foot Scrub
Oatmeal is so soothing so adding it to a summer foot scrub just seems right. This scrub also has cornmeal, sea salt and lemon essential oils to make it smell wonderful. You can mix it all together and store in a Ziploc bag. Then, just add about a half a cup to a little water to make a paste and slather it on your feet. Scrub it gently into areas that are rough or dry and then rinse with cool water. Add a moisturizer and you’ll find smoother and softer feet in just a couple of days of use.

Epsom Salt Body Scrub
You can actually create this recipe for your feet or as an overall body scrub and it works wonders on rough, dry skin. It’s got Epsom salts, eucalyptus and sesame oils and coffee which is great for toning your body and helping to remove cellulite. This is a great body scrub to use before self-tanning lotions if you tend to prefer a self-tan. It will remove dead skin so that your tan goes on much more evenly and smooth. Coconut Oil Hair Repair Treatment
Coconut oil not only smells wonderful, it can do wondrous things for your hair. To make this treatment, you need a cup of organic virgin coconut oil which you can pick up from a natural food store. You also need ½ teaspoon of an essential oil and which oil you use depends on what your hair needs. Lavender and chamomile are great for shine and peppermint adds moisture to dry hair. Choose the essential oil that is best for your hair damage and then mix together, apply to your hair and comb through. Add a shower cap or plastic bag and leave on for at least half an hour. Fennel has been used for centuries to cure certain ailments like upset stomach. It also contains properties that are perfect for reducing inflammation and rejuvenating skin. DIY Dry Shampoo Spray
There may be some times this summer when your hair needs a little refresher but you just don’t have time for a full wash and condition. After swimming especially, your hair may feel a bit funky and if you are away from home, you may not be able to wash it right away. Enter dry shampoo. Dry shampoos are great for removing oil and dirt and leaving your hair looking freshly washed. You can easily make your own with cornstarch, water and rubbing alcohol. DIY Lip Scrub
Winter causes dry, chapped lips but then again, so does summer. Too much sunlight (or wind burn if you’re riding something in the open air) can really mess up your lips. This is a great lip scrub that will remove dry skin and leave your lips kissably soft. Note that you need to avoid direct sunlight for an hour or so after using or if you are going out, use a lip balm that has sunscreen in it. The scrub contains raw honey, coconut oil, granulated sugar and just a bit of lemon juice. You just mix the ingredients into a paste and then use a toothbrush (with soft bristles) to apply it to your lips. Rinse and then apply lip balm.

DIY Lavender Lotion Bars
Lotion bars are great for helping to heal up dry skin and they can treat common skin conditions such as eczema. These bars have lavender, although you could substitute another essential oil if you wanted and they are really easy to make. There are only three ingredients so they are also really cheap to make. You need beeswax, coconut oil and almond oil. If you want to add an essential oil you can, but the smell of almond and coconut is great for summer. Just mix the ingredients and pour into your favorite mold to make little lotion bars in your favorite shapes.

Mint Coconut Body Scrub
Mint and coconut together may bring to mind your favorite summer cocktail and it will give you a wonderfully refreshing scrub. It takes granulated sugar, coconut oil and mint leaves and you can store this amazing scrub in the refrigerator for up to a month or so. Just combine the ingredients and use it in the shower to slough away all those dead skin cells and leave your skin looking and feeling smoother and with a beautiful summer glow. It’s recommended that you don’t use this one on your face since it’s a bit harsh for sensitive areas but it will do wonders for the rest of your body.

Rosewater is excellent for any skin type, particularly dry or sensitive skin. Roses have an astringent property that is perfect for toners and body splashes and it’s really easy to make your own rose water at home. You will need fresh rose petals, distilled water, cooking utensils and a spray bottle or container to hold it. Make this up and store in the fridge for a really refreshing toner on those hot days. Just use it like you would a normal toner, applying to the face with a cotton ball. Or, you could use it as a whole body splash and smell like roses all day.

Olive Oil Hair Treatment
Your hair is bound to get a bit dried out during summer. Between the sand, surf and sun, hair can get really brittle and frizzy. This olive oil hair treatment will give your hair back the moisture it needs to leave it soft and shiny again. You have to massage a couple of tablespoons of olive oil into your hair, making sure to go all the way to the scalp. Leave this in for about half an hour to 45 minutes by wrapping your hair up in a towel. Rinse the olive oil out and then shampoo. Summer Eye Soothers
Too much fun in the sun or at the pool or beach can really show in your eyes. If your eyes look tired or they’re a bit puffy from all that summer fun, you can instantly refresh them with tea bags. Chamomile tea is a natural anti-inflammatory so it will reduce puffiness and redness around your eyes. Green teas and black teas have tannins and caffeine which will also reduce puffiness and the tannins will provide an astringent effect that will reduce swelling. Just steep a couple of tea bags for about three minutes and put them in the fridge to cool. Lay a bag over each eye and leave in place for 15 minutes.
