How to Make a Ball Lawn Ornament Using Glass Nuggets
This project requires only a small investment of time and supplies. At the same time, it is easy to customize it to your preferences.
How to Make This Glass Nugget Lawn Ornament Out of Cheap Supplies
Let's discuss the supplies you are going to be needing. To begin with, hot glue and a glue gun are required for this project. You are also going to need a wooden stick, a Styrofoam ball, and some glass nuggets (sometimes also referred to as "glass globs”).
I made a relatively small ornament for this project. But it is up to you what size you want yours to be. If you prefer, you can get a larger Styrofoam ball and more glass nuggets to cover it. It will take you longer to create a larger lawn ornament, but the effect can be even more dazzling.
The final results of your project will also depend on the colors you choose. Different colors can help you to achieve very different effects.
How to Display Your Glass Nugget Gazing Ball
Where you can display your DIY lawn ornament depends on its size and the layout of your lawn and garden. You can set it up alongside a garden path, or you can even place it inside a planter if it is small enough (like the one that I created for this video tutorial).

Materials
- Decorative glass nuggets
- Styrofoam ball
- Wood stick
Tools
- Hot glue and glue gun
Instructions
- Your first step is to push the end of the wooden stick into the Styrofoam ball. It should be deep enough that it will remain secure and support the weight of the ball.
- There is only one more step to this easy project. You just need to use hot glue to attach glass nuggets all around the outside of the Styrofoam ball, covering it up completely. It is a smart idea to start working at the top and move toward the bottom. That way, if you are left with any awkward gaps, they will not be easy to see on the finished result.
- Once you have finished making your handcrafted lawn ornament, all you need to do is find a place to display it.
