Back when I was in college, I had a whiteboard in my room which I used to keep track of assignments and practice math equations. Recently I realized that I could use a whiteboard more than ever nowadays to keep track of everything from household chores to video tutorials I am preparing for the site.

And then I realize that it’s the perfect craft to share with you because it is actually super easy and fast to make your own whiteboard out of simple supplies. In this video tutorial, I will show you how it's done step-by-step so you can create your own.

How to Make a Whiteboard From a Picture Frame

For this project, I decided to use a picture frame for the whiteboard. I did this to make the project easy and to give the finished result of a homey look.

How to Make a Whiteboard with Household Items

You need almost no supplies to make this project. The only tool you need to work with is a pair of scissors. You'll also want to have at least one dry erase marker and eraser handy for when the project is completed and ready to use.

You will require only two other materials. These include a picture frame and some decorative paper. While I went with a basic white frame, you can choose any style or size of frame that you want.

I printed out a simple polka dot pattern for the whiteboard’s backdrop, but here too, you can go with anything you want. Just make sure it is not too busy and that the colors are not too bold, or it will be hard to see what you have written or drawn on your whiteboard.

How to Make Your Own Office White Board

• Picture frame
• Decorative paper

Tools

• Pair of scissors
• Dry-erase marker
• Eraser

Instructions

1. Begin by turning over your picture frame. Open up the back, removing the backing and any excess materials from inside (i.e. blank sheets of paper, stock photos, etc.). You can throw away any excess materials. You will put the backing on again later.
2. Using a pair of scissors, trim down your decorative paper so that it is the right size to fit inside the frame, filling it completely.
3. Set the decorative paper down inside the frame. Make sure that the patterned side you want to be visible is resting against the glass.
4. The last step is simply to put the backing on the frame again and secure it.
5. Now you can turn over your completed craft, and it will be a functional and decorative whiteboard. You can stand it up on a desk or hang it on your wall. All that's left to do is make good use of it and have fun.
