My kids love fairies, which means they also love fairy gardens. Over the years, we have created so many beautiful fairy garden decorations, and many of them came from upcycled items, like this fairy house that you can make from an empty laundry detergent bottle.

What Other Bottles Can You Use To Make A Fairy House?
I chose a white laundry detergent bottle for this fairy house, but you could totally do this with any larger bottle. You could even choose a bottle in another color. Gain green bottles would be adorable fairy houses, or you can find purple ones at the Dollar Store.
Honestly, whatever laundry detergent or fabric softener bottle you have on hand is perfect, and if you don’t like the color of the bottle that you have, you can always spray paint it before you make your fairy house.
What Else Do You Need For A DIY Fairy House?
You really don’t need a lot else besides your bottle. You can use a sharpie or marker to make the windows and door and to add decorations. Or, you could use faux branches and artificial flowers to get your fairy house a little style.
What Do You Do With A Fairy House?
I have this DIY fairy house in my fairy garden…you do have a fairy garden, don’t you? If you don’t, this is a great time to get started. A fairy garden is so simple to make and it gives your outdoors such a magical look and feel.
You could also just sit this on the porch or deck if you don’t want to go all out and make a grand fairy garden…although you really should have your own fairy garden.

- Markers
- Pine Cones

Instructions
- First, you need to choose an empty bottle and clean it up. If you plan to paint your bottle, be sure that you allow plenty of time for it to dry before you begin the project.
- Using your marker or sharpie, draw a door and windows on your detergent bottle.
- Once you have all of your doors and windows drawn, you can cut them out with your craft knife.
- Draw a black outline around your doors and windows to highlight them after you have cut them out.
- You need one or two pinecones to make the roof. Start by pulling the pinecones apart.
- Glue the pinecone pieces to the top of your detergent bottle (the lid) with hot glue.
- Now you can either draw in some branches and flowers with markers or you can glue on artificial versions with your hot glue gun.
