I love going camping, but it isn’t without its inconveniences. Last year I went camping and it ended up raining. I dropped my entire box of matches in a puddle and couldn’t start a fire. I know there are other ways to do that, but for the life of me I can’t get that thing with two sticks to work. Nope, I actually had to go home early, which was pretty lame.
I never have to worry about that happening again now! I just found a video which teaches you how you can make waterproof matches for camping. And you’ll never believe what the secret ingredient is … nail polish!
As you can see, this is an incredibly simple hack! I love that in the video there is also a demonstration which proves that this works. He submerges the matches completely in the bowl, pulls them out, and tests them. As you can see, they light right up without any difficulty at all.
So the next time I go camping and drop my matches in a puddle, I won’t have anything to worry about. I won’t need to rub two sticks together to start a fire or give up and head home. My matches will work just the same as they do when they’re dry. This is totally one of the coolest camping hacks I’ve ever seen. I’ll probably make a few of these to keep in my kitchen too, just for convenience!
