I have tried so hard to get lemon trees to grow. I’ve literally given it three attempts now, and every time was a complete failure. I don’t have a green thumb, so I expected it to be hard, but not that hard.
I just found out why I couldn’t get the lemons to grow! It turns out I’ve been doing it entirely wrong. I watched this video and I learned all kinds of amazing secrets for lemon-growing that I never could have figured out on my own:
This is seriously an awesome video. It goes really in-depth and you can tell this guy really knows his stuff.
After you watch that, check this out:
In that video he shares the proof that it works! I can’t wait to try this myself.

Now I know also. I will be planting in May. Thanks for sharing!

Hi folks, I watched the video, but I still don't see or hear the in depth directions for growing a successful lemon tree, other than 1. buying seeds at the store, and 2. planting two trees (always)! Is there more info I am not getting?

To tell you the truth, I've grown a lemon from seed I've taken from a lemon I ate. There probably are some details to be careful about. A rule for growing citrus and exotic plants from seed is to take the seed from a fruit that has never been frozen before getting on the market. It is like that with pineapples and avocado, and I guess it is like that with citruses, too.
Another thing before you start harvesting lemons is that you need to find a lemon tree that already gives lemons to take a part of it and graft it onto your tree. Only then you will start picking lemons.
I'd be happy if the author corrects me, if I'm wrong, because I don't want to mislead readers.

Nice video! I wish I have found it last year. When I first started growing a lemon from weed, I wasn't sure where should I start and I was completely overwhelmed by all the elaborate tutorials about growing...
An expert gardener from London told me that citrus are not hardy in United Kingdom but can be grown in pots outdoors in summer and brought inside for the winter. He told me that from all citrus, most people prefer to grow lemons. He adviced me to choose kumquats - the most cold tolerant because limes need more warmth.

How long before a lemon starts to grow from when you plant the seed? Is it possible to have only one lemon plant to grow a lemon?
Yvonne Robinson
Yes it is, I have one lemon tree and a lot of lemons, I also have a mandarin orange tree (2ft high as is the lemon) and it's covered with tiny mandarins but their not growing so well. They are very hungry feeders so I now have Summer and Winter feed as they feed in the winter too. Best of luck, Vonnie.
