Can I just say that I absolutely hate spiders? Really, they scare me half to death and keeping them out of my home is critical. If you feel the same way or if you just really don’t like those little critters hanging around, there are a few effective and all-natural ways to keep them away.
First, peppermint is very effective. Spiders simply hate peppermint so placing just a few drops of peppering essential oils into a spray bottle, adding a little liquid dish soap and filling with water gives you an excellent remedy for ridding your home of spiders. Spray this mixture around your windows and doors and just anywhere that you think they may be crawling around.
You can also use vinegar and coconut oil. Mix the two together into a spray bottle and spray around doors and windows, in the shower and under beds.
Finally, spiders also tend to dislike citrus oils. Lemons, limes and oranges are great essential oils to spray around if you want a fresh clean smell and a home free from spiders.

I don't know about peppermint, I grow it in my garden and there are always spiders hanging around the plants. If they hate it why are they living in it?
bob
they are most likely living in it because it is not very concentrated

Hi Pattu!
I use around 5 drops per gallon of water, not too much, but just enough to have a nice smell ^^ I also put around 5 drops in a small dish and put it on top of the closets =)

would work fine if you didn't have a pet that is curious
about everything- the borax would kill your pet

Spider do serve purpose for getting other bugs, but so does hit soap and water and not leaving your house a pig sty.
They can full access to the backyard but inside my house --not so much!,

If you are concerned about your pets, put the borax solution in a sealed container like a water bottle or jar. Poke or drill a small hole on one side large enough for ants to come and go but too small for animals, children and garden friendly insects to enter. Bees and lady bugs will most likely bee fine. The sugar will attract the ants. If your solution is too liquid it will likely drown the ants. Keeping it grainy will give them the opportunity to carry the borax back home to their family hopefully killing them all. You might put a rock in the bottle to weigh it down in the event of wind or storms. These can be hidden throughout your gardens.
