Goo Gone is a great product for removing adhesive and other stickiness from things around the house. Unfortunately, the smell is pretty bad and it can be a little costly. If you want the benefit of Goo Gone without the drawbacks, you can just make your own.
The recipe is really easy and you can sort of customize it to meet your own preferences. The gist of the formula uses one part oil to two parts baking soda and you can use whatever oil you prefer. Canola oil, vegetable oil and coconut oil are a few favorites. Just mix one cup (or whatever measurement you want) to two cups of baking soda and store in an airtight container. (⅓ Oil ⅔ Baking soda)
This homemade Goo Gone will get rid of that adhesive from stickers or what-not and save you a bit of cash in the process. It's an easy and very affordable alternative to what you can buy at the store.

Thank you for this! I just tried it on some really stubborn adhesive stuck on a glass jar. I made the paste (used olive oil), applied it to the glass, and let it sit for a while (maybe 20-30 minutes?). A little bit of rubbing and it came off with almost no effort!

As usual with such home remedies, this didn't work at all.

I had a stick on dryer bar inside my dryer and when I permanently removed it what a mess!! The adhesive that connected it to the dryer was very thick. I did not want to use a chemical product so I did some research. I ended up using 2 TB Lard and 6 TB Soda. It worked like a charm. I did not want to use a liquid oil in the dryer and so the lard kept everything contained.
Thank you for this recipe....

It didn't work for me. I made a cup of this mix and it didn't do anything to a standard automotive sticker glue.
So, I went back to Goo Gone and it got me thinking. Goo Gone is oily but it's also acidic like most solvents.
Is this mix only missing an ingredient?

You are BRILLIANT!!! Can't thank you enough.
So easy to make and use and worked fast AND my hands were so soft after from the coconut oil!

Had a fish tank with duct tape all over it. Peeled the top layer of the tape off but the residue left behind as a real problem. Goo Gone just smeared the residue around. Same with WD-40. Tried this remedy with Olive Oil and it was absolutely Amazing. Took the residue right off and I cleaned the residue off with Windex.
