Christmas is upon us and it is time to start creating and crafting. One of my favorite things to do is to make homemade cards to give to friends and family. This little snowman Christmas card is the ideal kid's craft project that can be an ornament or tucked away and sent to a family member. It doesn't get any easier or more fun than this!

What Can I Use to Decorate the Snowman?
This is such a perfect craft for kids because it lets them get creative and use their imagination. We all know a snowman has a scarf, a hat, a few buttons, and a face. Sometimes you see a corn cob pipe or carrot nose. When making a paper snowman, the possibilities are endless for giving it the look you want, or they want. Below are some items to keep on hand for creating your own unique snowman!
- Foam paper
- Felt
- Scrap fabric
- Buttons
- Pom poms
- Construction paper
- Pipe cleaners
- Ribbon
- Beads
- Sequins
- Glitter
- Fake snow
- Cotton balls
- Googly eyes
Use these options to give your snowman a new look. Add cotton balls for texture, googly eyes to make it look goofy, or glitter and sequins to create a sparkling snowman. Have fun creating and let the kids go crazy using their imaginations to make a truly unique snowman.
Can I Hang This on The Tree?
Absolutely! While I label this a Christmas card, it can be an ornament instead. As mentioned above, it's all about your imagination and what you create. Since this has an opening you can write inside, it is a natural card, but a hole punch and ribbon at the top turn it into an ornament in seconds! Tape the back to a gift and use it as a gift tag. Just have fun making this with the kids.
What Kind of Paper is Best for Making a DIY Card?
You can use any paper for this project. Construction paper is most commonly used when working with kids because it is durable and cheap. You can also use copy paper, craft paper, or if you want this to be more traditional, you can use cardstock.
If using cardstock, remember that it is thicker and more difficult to fold, so you may want to do the folding on your own if working with younger kids. Otherwise, just be creative and use what you have on hand. You can even grab snowflake scrapbook paper for this to look even more unique!
Can This Be Mailed in a Regular Envelope?
Yes. This snowman will fit inside of a regular envelope to mail to friends and family. When you mail it, be sure to have it weighed before adding the stamps. It might require more postage than a traditional letter. Of course, if you are going to add a lot of extras to it that are thick or stick out, it may be better to mail in a bubble mailer rather than a traditional envelope.
