It does look like it’s going to be complicated just by looking at the finished cake, but the tutorial really breaks it down easily for you. The ‘feathers’ are made by cutting discs of fondant (or chocolate modeling clay if you prefer), so get whatever colors you like; apart from that, you just need the obvious cake layers, frosting and some tools to get the job done.
