When I was a little kid, I lived in a household where I didn’t have any privacy whatsoever. My parents and siblings were constantly looking through my stuff, so if I had something I wanted to keep to myself, I had to hide it somewhere insanely clever.
Even though I’m now in control of my life and obviously run my own household much differently, you never really outgrow those deeply ingrained childhood habits. Part of me is still obsessed with finding clever and stealthy ways to do things. Plus, even though I live in a good neighborhood, sometimes bad things happen. My neighbor was burgled just last week. That’s why I’ve posted before on home security tips, and even shared secret hiding places to fool burglars.
I just found another great video from HouseholdHacker which taught me even more ridiculously clever ways to hide items around the house!
All of these are really unlikely places that anyone would look for anything—like inside a brush or thermostat or dog toy. Of course, you can really only store very small and/or flat valuables this way, but sometimes that’s all you need to hide. Maybe you want to hide a prized coin or jewelry item, or even just a hardcopy list of all your computer/internet passwords. These hiding places would be perfect for that. In a way, they’re more secure than a safe. A burglar can run off with a safe—but why would he steal your hairbrush? Check out the video, and enjoy these stealthy secrets!
