Liven up the dinner table with these adorable and super easy to make DIY placemats!
SUPPLIES NEEDED: – Old blue jeans – Cardboard – Gray yarn – White sewing thread – Sewing needle – Pen or pencil – Scissors – Hot glue gun – Hot glue sticks
Step 1: Trace a circle onto cardboard with an extra 1" on the outside, then cut it out at the widest circle.
Step 2: Measure and mark slits every 1" around the outside of the circle, then cut a slit that is 1/4" deep.
Step 3: Now, wrap the yarn over the middle and tie in the center, then continue going back and forth hooking it into each slit opposite until it is covered.
Step 4: Now, measure strips of denim 1" wide and as long as the pant legs in multiple colors and washes and then cut them out.
Step 5: Sew the end of one of these strips onto the center of the yarn, then begin weaving it in and out of the yarn.
Step 6: Sew new strips to the end as needed. Stop weaving when you have 1" of cardboard left. Then, sew the outside strip over the one behind it to secure.
Step 7: Snip the yarn at the edge of the circle, then tie the yarn into knots around the edges and trim off excess.
You can add additional stitching between the layers/rows if desired for extra security. Hand wash or wash on the delicate cycle if needed.
