This easy braided dual top knot buns hairstyle is one of my all-time favorite ways to wear my hair. It's so super easy and adorable! In fact, if I have my hair half up at any time, it more often than not is in this simple style.
This is ideal for all lengths of hair and is even better if you have some curl or wave to your hair. I know you are going to fall in love with this fun and adorable style!
Braided Dual Top Knot Buns Half Up Hairstyle
One of my favorite TV shows of all-time is the Firefly series that was canceled before the first season was even complete. This style reminds me of the mechanic, Kaylee Frye, and how she often wore her hair.
So simple and fun, this little top knot style is one of the fastest ways you can put your hair up. It works well with all lengths of hair and textures, so anyone can do this style. The only hair that it probably wouldn't work with would be a pixie style cut because it is a bit too short.
I am always looking for fast and easy hairstyles. We have shared a great list of 5-minute hairstyles in the past that are some of my favorites. Those, along with these fun ponytail ideas and waterfall braids, are all easy ways to add a bit of something extra to my hair without a ton of effort.
Do I Have to Braid the Top Knots?
If you are in a hurry or don't feel like braiding your hair, you don't have to for this style. You can simply twist the hair before twisting into the top knot. I love the braids as it adds a bit of an extra special look at the front of your hair. Since it doesn't have to be perfect or fancy, it's really easy to add the braid without extra effort.
Can I Do This With All of My Hair Up?
Yes! If you prefer to put all of your hair up instead of just the half up half down hairstyle, this is one braided style that is easy to adapt. You can still braid the front section like shown, but just gather the rest of the hair on each side and twist into place on top then secure with bobby pins. In the summer, I often put my hair up in the dual top knots like this with all hair up away from my face and neck. Such a cute idea that isn't a ponytail but still keeps your hair off your face and neck on those hot summer days.

How to Create a Braided Dual Top Knots Hairstyle
For this hairstyle, you will be wearing your hair a bit wavier than other styles. So, rather than combing and detangling your hair, I recommend simply finger combing to remove any larger tangles, then jumping right into the style.
Step 1
Start with a small section of hair pulled from the front of your forehead, and begin braiding this moving backward toward the back of your head.
Step 2
Once you reach the back of your head, you will braid the remaining loose hair, or simply twist it down to the bottom.
Step 3
Now, you will bring the hair upwards and twist around itself creating a small bun on that side as shown.
Secure the bun with bobby pins.
Add extra bobby pins around the edges if needed to hold in place.
Step 4
Repeat this process on the opposite side.
Once you have both top knots in place, you can spritz with hairspray to secure the style, or add additional pins or accent pins as desired.
This is an excellent style for pulling hair up and away from your face while staying stylish and elegant.
