The Hello Kitty craze (obsession?) hit us with a bang in the late 1990s, but she was actually created in Japan in 1974 already. Any of us who had daughters in the late ‘90s or early 2000s are sure to remember the Hello Kitty-mania that ensued – you may still be sitting with pencil cases, headbands, necklace, stuffed toys and the like!
Now that the craziness of the trend has subsided somewhat, Hello Kitty is actually an adorable symbol of sweeping Japanese pop culture, and we’re happy to reintroduce her back into our lives. Enter this pretty little crochet Hello Kitty hat pattern that we stumbled upon; the best part is that it’s free! The pattern is made to fit a child or a young teen, but you can easily adjust it if you want to crochet a smaller one for a baby, or if you’re planning on making a bigger one for your friend who never quite grew out of the Hello Kitty madness (we all have one of those!); there’s even a handy little sizing chart to help you out.
Gather all your supplies, pour a nice glass of wine, and get yourself comfy as you try out this awesome free pattern. The look on your little girl’s face when she puts the hat on will simply melt your heart!
