Valentine's Smiley Face Heart Eye Emoji Decoration
You know I am always looking for a way to repurpose or upcycle items I have on hand. After Christmas, I had a ton of leftover craft sticks from making ornaments. I also had bits and pieces of foam paper in various colors. I started brainstorming to come up with a fun way to use them for Valentine's Day.
The heart smiley face is a fun emoji that I use all the time when chatting in messenger, so why not recreate it as a way to decorate for the holiday? I got creative and decided the little heart-shaped chocolate candies made the perfect eyes on my smiley face. A bit of foam paper and glue, and I had a cute little stick decoration.
This is such a cute idea to add next to my easy paper heart garland tutorial. Add this to your mantle to make your house more festive for the holiday. If you have extra time on your hands, you could go all out and make this heart wall out of pistachios!
How Should I Display My Smiley Face Emoji?
What do you do with something like this? Well, I love adding it to a variety of different Valentine's Day decorations. Use your imagination to find ways to add it to your decor, or follow my tips below for some fun ways to display.
- Add to a gift basket you create with things like candles, bubble baths, clay masks, and lotions for a fun addition to a Valentine Day gift basket for a friend.
- Place in your potted plants to add a bit of extra decor around the house.
- Attach a magnet to the back of the smiley face and put it on your refrigerator.
- Put a string through the top or on the back of the smiley face and hang from the ceiling or a "tree" for Valentine's Day with other ornaments and decor.
- Add to a centerpiece for your dinner table when you make one of these great Valentine's Day recipes for two.
- Tack to a bulletin board along with a fun love themed message.
- Stick in the front of a vase with a bouquet of flowers.
- Attach to this Valentine's Day no-sew wreath idea for extra flare.
Do You Have to Use Foam Paper?
Of course, not! I prefer foam paper for a lot of projects because it is more durable, but it's not necessary. You can definitely use construction paper, craft paper, or even copy paper and add color to it with markers or paint. There are no real restrictions on making this except making sure the eyes are heart-shaped.

How to Make a Valentine's Day DIY Smiley Face Emoji Decoration
Begin by using a bowl to trace a circle on a piece of cardboard.

Now, you will glue the yellow piece onto the cardboard piece with your craft glue.
Trace and cut a smile out of the black foam paper and attach it to the front of the yellow foam board circle.
Now glue your heart candy pieces in place as the eyes of your smiley face emoji.
