Yarn Pom Poms
Flowers brighten up any room, but the weather outside doesn't always mean I can grow my own year-round. My solution when fresh flowers aren't possible is to add something bright and cheery to the room with these yarn pom poms flowers!
They are so easy to make, big, fluffy, and beautiful! Add them to a vase, in a basket, or as part of a centerpiece to display for a bit of cheer.
In fact, I love flowers so much that I have multiple ways on the site for you to make them. Whether you want to make flowers from old jeans, make fabric flowers, flowers from an old book, or simple tissue paper flowers, I have you covered!
Can These Yarn Pom Poms Be Washed?
Yes! One of the best things about these is how easy they are to wash. Just make sure the yarn tied in the center is good and secure, then toss them into a delicates bag and add to your laundry.
I prefer using a gentle wash cycle for this to protect them from becoming unraveled. Toss them in a dryer on a gentle cycle or air dry, then fluff them before displaying them again.
How Should I Display My Pom Pom Flowers?
As you see, I love adding a stick to the bottom of the flower and adding it to a face like a real flower. The fun part of these yarn pom poms, though, is that you can add them to a basket, in a centerpiece, on pillows, or just by themselves on the table.
They are big enough to act as a centerpiece all by themselves or as a perfect flower on a stem made from dowel rods or floral wire!
Supplies Needed

How to Make a Yarn Pom Poms Flower Arrangement
For this project, you will want to gather all of your supplies and pick at least three colors of yarn to create your pom poms for making flowers.
Once you have your supplies set up, you will pick one color of yarn, and begin wrapping it around your palm. Wrap several times until you get to the size you want your flower petal to be, and then slip off your palm.
Cut the end of the yarn, and then cut a small piece of yarn to tie in the middle of the looped pieces you just slipped from your palm.
Once the center is secured, you will cut the ends open and fluff the ball to make it rounder.
Trim the edges of the yarn at this point to look more uniform.
Continue this process until you have six (6) yarn pom poms in a single color.
Next, you will make a single pom pom in an alternate color. For mine, I chose to make two large flowers using pink on one and purple on the other, with the single center pom pom being white.
Cut a circle of cardboard out, and then glue your pom poms to the circle in the shape of a flower with the single color pom pom in the center.
Once the glue has dried, you can add a piece of sturdy floral wire or a simple dowel rod to the back of the cardboard piece with hot glue.
Wrap the handle with ribbon or green floral tape to look more like a real stem on a flower.
