Lollipop Ghost Craft Treat
There's no fun in handing out a basic piece of candy at Halloween. When the kids come around wearing their costumes and homemade Halloween masks, I want to give them something special for their effort. Dressing up treats by making this cute little lollipop ghost craft was a great idea that took just a few minutes of time. Plus, it was a perfect way to use up a little extra tissue paper and ribbon I had lying around.
If your kids are going out to trick or treat, you can make them one of these cool trick or treat bags to use! For the kids coming to your door, you can also add some candy to a cute little egg carton monster treat box.
What Lollipop Should I Use for This Ghost?
I love using larger suckers like Blow Pops or Tootsie Pops for these treats, as the ghost head is larger to create a fun spooky face. While you can use any sucker, the best are rounded like a ball shape rather than flattened.
Making this ghost craft with a variety of-sized suckers is another fun idea. You can create families of ghosts when you use small Charms Pops, Dum Dum lollies, and Tootsie Pops. Mix and match the colors of tissue paper, or just create different faces on each ghost to make them unique.
Can I Use a Coffee Filter for This Lollipop Ghost?
Yes! If you prefer, you can pick up a package of inexpensive paper coffee filters to use in place of tissue paper. They are already cut into a circle shape and are thicker than tissue paper, so they don't tear as easily. You can even find them recycled and a brown shade for adding variety.
If the coffee filter is a bit too big for the sucker you chose, you can simply trim it down a little around the outside.
How do You Draw Faces to Make A Ghost Craft out of A Lollipop?
I typically grab a fine-point permanent marker to make faces on small items like this. Sharpie has a great fine-point marker that doesn't bleed on paper.
Using a marker or pen, you can create small round eyes and a mouth. For the eyes, I like to leave the circles with a small area not filled in just to show the white of the tissue paper better. This makes them look a little brighter. When making the mouth of the ghost lollipop, get creative. I like to make small circles, long oval mouths, or even wobbly smiles.
Supplies Needed:
- Lollipop
- Tissue paper in white or various colors
- Satin ribbon
- Black permanent marker
- Scissors
How to Make Lollipop Ghost Craft Treats for Halloween
To make these cute little ghost craft treats, you will need to gather your supplies. Buy your favorite suckers or lollipops, and pick up some tissue paper in white or whatever colors you prefer. Traditional ghosts are white. These ghosts can be any color you want! You could even use cupcake paper liners if the sucker is smaller.
Cut the tissue paper into small circles about 4" in diameter for the average lollipop. You will want 2-3 layers/pieces per ghost to cover the color of the candy wrapper and to create the ruffle bottom.
Lay the sucker in the center of the tissue paper, and pull it around to cover the top of the sucker creating a flowing "skirt" of tissue paper.
Tie a piece of ribbon or string around the base of the sucker at the top of the stick to create the "head" of the ghost.
Using a marker, draw eyes and a mouth onto the sucker to create a face on your ghost. Get creative by making big and little eyes and mouths with different shapes of mouths, from round to wobbly smiles.
