For a while I lived in a small space without a dishwasher. It was an interesting experience, let me tell you. I learned to wash all my dishes by hand pretty quickly and efficiently, and actually I got to wondering why people feel like they need dishwashers.
But I was honestly happy when I got one back. I mean, even though I can do my dishes by hand, I’d rather just be lazy and let a machine do them (of course, you still have to clean your dishwasher!).
Anyway, I am now really glad I have a dishwasher, because it turns out they are useful for so much more than just washing your dishes!
Seriously, there are so many other things you can wash! I think my favorites are the shoes and the hairbrush. Those are two items that are notoriously hard to get clean. Getting your shoes odor-free is such a challenge by hand or in a washing machine—and some shoes really shouldn’t go in the washing machine. And don’t even get me started on the hassle of cleaning out a hairbrush. You still have to pull out all the hair by hand before putting it in the dishwasher, but at least you can get all the hard water gunk off of it!
Dishwashers truly are very useful inventions, but it is time that their full range of uses got some recognition! I had no idea what I was missing before. I hope you find this video as life-changing as I did!

You have to be really careful putting kitchen sponges in the dishwasher though, and make sure to get any dish soap out because even a little bit on the sponge can send suds all over the kitchen floor.
