These acorn cap jingle bells are the perfect craft for kids and adults of all ages! They seem to be the ideal way to bring nature inside during the holidays, and while they are cute all by themselves, they are ideal for adding to another decor. You could say they are a perfect way to "ring" in the holiday season. Simply glue a jingle bell to an acorn cap, and you're done! These make great ornaments, decorations, and gifts.
Acorn Cap Jingle Bells
The holidays are here, and there’s no better way to get into the spirit than with some holiday crafts. It can be hard for kids to sit still long enough to complete a project, which is why we love this easy craft that only takes about 5 minutes!
Acorn cap jingle bells are perfect for your little ones who want to make their own Christmas decorations. This simple craft features a jingle bell glued onto an acorn cap. All you need is an acorn cap, glue, and jingle bells! It is really that simple. Then you can let kids add some extra fun to it if you want or you can leave it as is.
Since acorns are so readily available in our yard, we have made tons of great items in the past featuring them. If you like this idea, you might also like the acorn cap squirrel framed wall art idea or even these cute little glitter acorns that are nice for fall decor. They are so easy to make and a great addition to your holiday decorating plans.
Do I Need to Clean the Acorn Caps First?
It is important to always clean the acorn cap before you craft with it. It is especially important if you are getting the acorn caps from outside, but you should also do it even if you are buying them. While ones you buy from a craft store have probably already been at least washed for debris, these outside elements can bring in mites and small bugs. I like to make sure they are good and clean, just in case.
To clean them up, you can put them into a sink with a cap of bleach and let it soak for 30-minutes, then rinse them well and lay them out to dry before using them in a craft. You can also use vinegar instead of bleach if you prefer something less harsh that will still kill anything that might remain.
What Glue Should I Use to Secure the Bells?
There are several types of glue that will work for securing the bells to the acorn caps. If an adult is doing the craft, you can use a hot glue gun or even super glue. These glues will hold strong and will dry fast. Using superglue, E6000, or Gorilla glue is something you can do without needing a cord to plug in the glue gun, but they aren't necessary.
If kids are doing this craft, you do not want to use those glues. Hot glue and hot glue guns pose a burn risk for kids. Superglue, or other permanent glues like this, can glue little fingers together.
Crafting glue or white school glue can be used for making these acorn cap jingle bells, but the dry time is much longer. You will want to find a space and a way to set the jingle bell up to dry where it will not fall apart. So, depending upon your needs and who is doing the crafting, there really is no set glue to use.
What Ways Can I Use This For Christmas?
These adorable acorn cap jingle bells can be strung together to decorate around the house. It can be used as a garland on the Christmas tree. The bells can also be used as part of the gift tags on a Christmas tree. If you are making the pine cone ball door hanger, these jingle bells can be made and hung from the base to add another layer of holiday fun.
These jingle bells can also be laid around in a centerpiece to add some pretty details.
How Can I Customize My Jingle Bells?
My favorite part of this little craft is that it is so versatile. You can use them by themselves or alongside your other crafts. Get creative and use them throughout your decor this year for a little tinkle of joy.
Sting them onto yarn or twine to create a garland to hang over doors so it makes the tinkling bell sound when people go in or out. I also like the idea of adding them to this clothespin tree garland, this burlap reindeer garland, or this pom pom reindeer garland.
They go great on bows to add to packages or even bows you hang on the wall, tree, or doors. Of course, I love adding them to wreaths. You can take this rustic fall wreath and make it go through winter easily by adding these acorn jingle bells strung on holiday ribbon around the wreath. Of course, they are also a natural fit for this festive DIY Christmas wreath too!
