I found myself frozen in front of the PVC pipe section in the hardware store the other day because I couldn’t stop thinking of all the things that I could actually make from these strong cylinders. The shape and range of sizing made me realize that there are so many ways to store and organize all my clutter at home. I managed to find quite a few brilliant ideas floating around the internet, so clearly, I’m not the first to be hit with this realization. Who knew that simple, classy and functional storage could be this cheap?!

Well this really is genius, and there isn’t much work that goes into making this modern wine rack of PVC piping. The white will suit most houses with white walls and cabinets, but don’t be afraid to give it that pop of color if you want to spice it up a little.

Garden Tool Organizer
Garages tend to get cluttered really easily – I think people feel that it’s the one room where it’s ok to just toss everything in. Well, a great (and cheap!) way to keep your garden tools organized is to cut some pieces of PVC through which you can slot the tools. Perfect, right? You can even label everything to really keep it tidy and in order.

I’ve seen so many lovely bracelet and bangle racks like these, but I quickly realized how easy it actually is to make my own DIY version. Those bars could easily be replaced with PVC piping that you just need to cut to the right length and then keep sturdy with a base.

Tool Organizer
When one side of a pipe is cut at an angle, it’s very simple to lean it against the wall and screw it in place. That’s what this clever DIYer did to organize all his tools. You can even color code the pipes so that finding something is as easy as looking in the designated section.

Years ago, I used pvc pipe and fittings to make a canopy for my daughter's bed. You get the fittings that look like a flattened Y to attach the uprights to a rectangle at the top. It was easy, gorgeous, and a lot cheaper than buying a canopy bed for her. I used recycled sheers to surround the bed, with shower curtain hooks to attach them.
Elaine
Great idea! How did you attach to the bedframe? Or is it freestanding?

All of the ideas to be used by PVC pipe is great. It might be better if the process to make them would be available. I might be able to generate them by trial and error but in order to improve of make them, some instruction would be nice.
Martin
It would be nice to see how people have attached the end of a pipe to a flat surface, as most of these projects require that. Any tips?

PVC is my best friend! I will sometimes be asked to make faux flower bouquets for some of the brides I design gowns for as the want them bling or something special for a handle to match their gown. That's where PVC comes in. It can be decorated in so many ways.
It also makes great napkin rings. I used to play with polymer clay All the time before I started designing full time again. Clay bakes wonderfully to pvc. Then I'd decorate them further for the holidays with florals or I would stitch free standing lace files on my embroidery machine and decorate with them as well on the PVC.
I have painted them to look like iron and used them on my porch as curtain hangers. Everyone thought they were actual heavy metal rods ?.
There is SOOOOOO much you can do. I always have PVC around
Kathleen
So many creative ideas! My mind is off to the hardware store for PVC pipe.
