How to Make a Crocheted Peacock Feather Blanket

Modified: Jan 22, 2024 by Vanessa Beaty · This post may contain affiliate links · 42 Comments

DIY Crocheted Peacock Feather Blanket collage.

When I first started learning crochet, I was trying to pick up most of it just by following pictures and diagrams, and it was so difficult. I had a hard time understanding how to get from one diagram to the next without being able to see it live.

But now, there are tons of awesome crochet tutorial videos on YouTube! This has finally given me what I need to make real progress in my crochet journey.

Detailed peacock feather blanket patterns:

  • Etsy
  • Craftsy - 5$
  • Ravelry - 5$

Recently, I have wanted to make a more elaborate project with more colors than I have tried using in the past (most of my projects have been limited to just one or two colors). And I found this video for crocheting a peacock motif:

Video tutorial on how to crochet the motif.

It is really easy to follow. In fact, I have already created my first one! Now, I just need to make a bunch more and connect them all together to make something really cool. There is so much that you could do with this.

A bunch of these connected together would make a beautiful blanket or a gorgeous shawl. I’m still not sure how to connect them, but I have faith that I can figure it out if I just work at it (and maybe find another tutorial). I have found a couple of free and paid patterns on Ravelry and Craftsy.

Anyway, check out the video and enjoy the tutorial here; you'll find her written instructions on the peacock motif pattern. Be sure to share your creations with us in the comments section. I am so excited to see what all of you make! Maybe I will find some inspiration for my own peacock projects!

Fell in love but can't crochet? Get the finished product from Etsy.

It should be a bit simpler than granny squares. For the pattern: bet if you visited your local yarn shop they would either have a copy, could order it, or even print it out for you Debbe D'Abundo!

Or if you have access to an iPad or tablet (even a smart phone /cell phone) you can download the pattern to your device via Ravelry.com (link to the pattern is in the article)

I use an app to organize my patterns called "Patternism" (which has a row counter built in for each seperate project!). I highly recommend this method and app. It allows me to take multiple patterns anywhere I go (and no paper waste!!)

Why is your site requiring a driver update for version 10 when no other site is requesting one. Are you an affiliate for the driver product? Thanks

My only problem is that the tutorial is not the same peacock feather motif used in the blanket photos. I may be able to wing it, but I can't use patterns/instructions. There must be something wrong with me, but the only way I can learn is video or in person.

Yes that only helps with the motif, the exact patterns are linked from external sites.

Would you please give more detail on how to join the ovals to the center area. For example: is each oval sewed on separately? What kind of stitch is used? whipstitch? It looks like on the picture that the outside edge is single crochet. If not, then what. Is the outside edge a separate operation from joining each oval. thank you very much. Susan Whitehorn

I have never crocheted before, and your video has helped me to make several of these motifs. I think they look pretty good for my first ones except my weaving. I am having a lot of trouble weaving in my yarn tails, do you have a video that demonstrates how to weave the tails in?

Hi! I have the blanket pattern for the Pretty Peacock Blanket with a reverse blanket I purchased on Esty. I learn from video and is a great tool for me as I'm a beginner. I do know how to do basic stitches and can do the motifs. I'm having trouble with the reverse blanket. Is there a video for that or can you make a video to help me and others who learn this way? I would greatly appreciate all the help I can get. Thank you! Karen Turner

I could really use a demonstration or instruction on how to attach feathers to the blanket. Winging it on my own and it looks rather tacky. Please help??!!
