What do you do when you wake up to fantastic sunshiny day and all you want to do is splash around in some water to cool off from the burn of the sun’s piercing rays?
If you don’t have a pool or can’t get to a beach nearby, then sadly, your dream remains but a dream. If you want to take a hands-on approach though, you could do what Facebook user, Torben Jung, did and make your own pool from pallets.
This isn’t a step-by-step tutorial, but it should be pretty easy to figure out using the photos and a little bit of common sense and ingenuity on your part.
How to Make a Pallet Swimming Pool
Jung started by connecting 10 pallets into a circular shape (well, a decagon to be precise).
As you can see, he used some wood pieces to connect each joining of the pallets at the top, middle and bottom; he also secured the final shape with some ties all around the perimeter.
With the first piece of tarp laid down on the floor and the finished frame set on top of it, he now needed to waterproof the entire structure with a tarp. This was all then covered again with a piece of blue overlay which was then secured further with tape.
Finally, Jung finished it all off with a ledge around the top so that it looks neat and offers a place to rest your elbows and drinks. He also covered the entire thing in what looks like bamboo – a great way to hide all the tape and construction. He says the entire thing cost him about €70 which is just a little bit higher in dollars, but he didn’t indicate what materials he already had at home to use. Either way, this isn’t really too expensive for a project.
So what do you think? Could you make your own pallet pool? As I’ve said many times before, pallets should never be underestimated, and working with reclaimed wood is always rewarding. If you want to find some other great pallet uses, have a look at this garden planter; you can even make some gorgeous outdoor furniture, too!

To my many DIY's out there ***Pallet Project Warning!*** If this is you you might really want to consider this. Pallets have become a DIY dream "free" product for making all sorts of things. The medical world is finding some mild and some serious health related concerns from using and handling pallets. Why? You have NO way of knowing what was shipped on the pallets since they are used and used and used again. Many have carried toxic chemicals and spills do happen, the manufacturing and shipping industries are not held to any standards (especially products imported into the states) to report or destroy these pallets. They just get thrown back into the pile for the next shipment of whatever. Possibly more scary is the fact that the EPA and some Universities have randomly tested pallets and found that a huge number contain multiple contaminates. Many being listed as major carcinogenic! Think twice about pallet use. It is really a shame because I have seen so many projects i'd like to do but won't. I am sorry to be a fear monger, I'm just really concerned for everybody using pallets especially for something like a bed frame and cute baby cradles that we spend a lot of our lives in. Plus, do not use them as firewood in fire pits, fireplaces or bonfires. You unknowingly maybe breathing contaminates directly into your body. I know we are all going to die of something, but if we could avoid cancer we should try.

That's why you don't get the dirty looking ones, and you ask what the pallet was used for or don't the ones that have black or paint on get them. Or if you have a place near by that makes them ask them for some. Plus my pallets I sand and put stain or Linseed oil on them. I have been using them for many projects

What type of plastic is the blue that covers the finishing inside!

It's a pool liner.. And it's not really needed if you use a good quality waterproof tarp
